11 Areas In Highest Tier 4 COVID-19 Restrictions Move To Tier 3 On Fri

SCOTLAND

Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon confirms that the 11 council areas that have been under Scotland's strictest tier 4 COVID-19 restrictions will be moved into tier 3 on Friday 11 Dec.

  • The news was trailed yesterday but not confirmed until minutes ago.
  • The move will allow non-essential shops to reopen across a swathe of western and central Scotland, the country's most heavily-populated area centred around the city of Glasgow.
  • All council areas across Scotland have either been moved one tier down to lesser restrictions or maintained at the same level. No councils have been moved into a higher tier of restrictions.
