30GW of Spanish PV at Risk of Losing Grid Permits

Around 30GW of Spanish PV is at risk of losing access and connection rights to the domestic grid amid the extension deadline to obtain a construction permit being pushed back until 25 July 2024, according to PV magazine.

  • Projects that obtained their grid permit after 31 December 2017 could be impacted.
  • However, it is not yet known how many projects will be impacted by this, while the region of Valencia approved 738MW of PV, or 23 PV farms, on 26 July, according to the Valencian administration
  • The Spanish government has approved more than 984MW additional power plants in one year compared to 105MW put into operation over the last 8 years, it said.
