A$ Firms On Better Risk Appetite

AUD/USD has steadily firmed as the Monday session has progressed. US Tsy futures are off their lows, while US equity futures hold in the green (Eminis last +0.17%). The pair was last 0.6730/35, around +0.30% firmer versus NY closing levels from Friday.

  • Note there is an option expiry at 0.6725 for A$633bn for today's NY cut, so they influence spot trends to a degree. We are also back to the 20-day EMA level.
  • The A$ is the best performer in the G10 space so far in the session, although NZD isn't too far behind (up 0.25%).
  • We a quiet data calendar, sentiment will be driven by broader risk appetite trends, which are more positive to the start the week in the equity space.
  • In the commodity space, copper is higher, while iron ore is steady.
