A$ Outperforms On Weaker USD, Numerous Fed Speakers Later

Aussie is outperforming during APAC trading rising 0.6% versus the greenback after a soft week. It is currently around 0.6360, close to the intraday high of 0.6365. Initial resistance is at 0.6410, the 20-day EMA. The USD index is down 0.2%.

  • AUDNZD has held onto most of its post RBNZ gains but continues to move around the 1.07 mark. It is currently about 1.0704 off the intraday high of 1.0715. AUDJPY is 0.1% higher at 94.39. AUDEUR is 0.4% stronger at 0.6044 and AUDGBP +0.4% to 0.5231.
  • Equity markets are rallying with the ASX up 0.5%, the Nikkei +1% and the Hang Seng +0.1%. S&P e-minis are down slightly. Oil prices are holding most of Wednesday’s losses with WTI up 0.4% to $84.52/bbl. Copper is 0.1% lower and iron ore is steady around $117-118.
  • Later the Fed’s Mester, Kashkari, Barkin, Daly and Barr all speak. Ahead of Friday’s payrolls US jobless claims and Challenger job cuts for September are released and there is also August trade data. The ECB’s Lane and de Guindos also appear.
