- Scepticism re: trade talks grew in London trade on the back of a BBG sources
piece which noted that "China wants to hold more talks this month to hammer out
the details of the "phase one" trade deal touted by Donald Trump before Xi
Jinping agrees to sign it, according to people familiar with the matter. Beijing
may send a delegation led by Vice Premier Liu He, China's top negotiator, to
finalize a written deal that could be signed by the presidents at the APEC
summit." U.S. Tsy Sec Mnuchin helped to allay at least some of the fears as he
told CNBC that he expects that, pending more meetings with Beijing off'ls, Trump
& Xi will be able to finish the deal during the APEC summit. Elsewhere, the
Editor in Chief of China's Global Times tweeted "China has the market demand to
buy $40 billion-$50 billion worth of US farm products. China won't make a
commitment that it can't honor; once it promises, it will fulfill it."
- Fed's Bullard, George, Bostic & Daly will speak Tuesday.
