ACER Urges EU to Increase Operations of Intermittent Renewables

The European Union of Energy Regulators ACER is urging European bodies to accelerate the deployment of more intermittent renewables and make the power sector more efficient, it said.

  • To achieve this the regulator proposes upgrading the EU power distribution and transmission systems.
  • It also suggests applying the “Efficiency First” principle – which focuses on reducing demand, energy efficiency and avoiding stranded assets- to existing grid and generation units as well as raising capacity.
