Adriatic LNG Applies to Boost Capacity to 10.4bcm

LNG

Italy’s Adriatic LNG terminal has applied to the energy ministry to boost capacity from 9.6bcm to 10.4bcm according to Montel sources.

  • Adriatic LNG is looking to raise its constant regasification capacity from 9bcm to 9.5bcm per year and non-constant capacity from 0.6bcm to 0.9bcm.
  • In September Adriatic LNG confirmed all the incremental capacity of 0.5bcm per year from January 2026-December 2045 for a total of 10bcm per year has been allocated.
  • The expanded capacity is scheduled to begin in Q1 2026 but could be early in Q4 2025.
  • An expansion of LNG regasification capacity in Italy is part of plans aimed to help the country cope with lower volumes of Russian gas. In October Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said the energy crisis has presented Italy with a unique opportunity to become an energy gateway between Africa and Europe.
  • Earlier this year approval was granted for an expansion to Toscana FSRU by 33% up to 5bcm/yr by improving vaporizer efficiencies and optimizing logistics but did not include any plant modifications or new facilities.
