Asia LNG Imports Rise as EU Demand Remains Tepid: Timera

LNG

European LNG imports, excluding Turkey, fell to the lowest March level since 2019 according to Timera Energy with tepid demand due to the mild winter and weak power sector demand.

  • Record high end of winter storage inventories at 59% are weighing on global prices to induce incremental demand.
  • Asian LNG imports have risen to a record high for the month of March at above 23m tons in response to the fall in prices.
  • The increase is an indication of the return of spot market purchases from price-sensitive buyers particularly in China, India, and Thailand.
