At Least Ten Suezmax and one VLCC Cleaned for CPP: Gibson

Kpler data shows at least ten Suezmax tankers and one VLCC have loaded clean petroleum product so far this year after cleaning to carry different types of oil cargo, said Svetlana Lobaciova, at Gibson Shipbrokers cited by Bloomberg.

  • Five of the Suezmax ships, as well as the VLCC, loaded their first clean cargoes this month.
  • “The main reason for the clean up of dirty Suezmaxes is extreme volatility in LR2 freight, whilst the Suezmax market has been relatively underperforming,” she said.
  • “There have also been unconfirmed reports of more vessels cleaning up and preparing to load CPP in the short term.”
