AUSSIE: AUD initially received a boost from revived optimism re: Sino-U.S. trade
relations overnight, but disappointing Aussie building approvals weighed on AUD
crosses limiting their gains.
- AUD/JPY has added 23 pips and last deals at Y77.87, having briefly looked
above the psychological Y78.00 level & the Dec 31 high at Y78.06. A breach above
the latter would open up the 21-DMA at Y78.62. Meanwhile, initial support is
located at yesterday's low of Y77.30.
- AUD/NZD has dropped 30 pips, last AUD/NZD NZ$1.0589, falling below the 21-DMA
at NZ$1.0596, as the soft Aussie print weighed on the Antipodean cross. Bearish
focus now falls on yesterday's low of NZ$1.0564, while bulls continue to eye the
55-DMA at NZ$1.0619, ahead of yesterday's high of NZ$1.0632.
