ASIAN MARKETS, AUSSIE-YEN
AUSSIE-YEN: AUD/USD last trades at $0.7188, which represents the 50-DMA, 17 pips
higher on the day, after bouncing from session lows of $0.7146, touched early in
the Asia-Pac session, with initial weakness attributed to lack of decisive
breakthrough in Sino-U.S. trade talks.
- Worth mentioning AUD has just overtaken yen as the G10's best performer.
AUD/JPY last Y77.59, 3 pips higher on the day, with familiar key levels
remaining in play.
- With the rate trading above the 100-DMA/55-DMA at $0.7178/80, bulls look for a
clean break and consolidation above those levels, which would open up the upper
Bollinger band (2%) at $0.7227. Conversely, bears keep an eye on yesterday's low
of $0.7135, and a fall through that level would bring the Jan 8 low at $0.7117
into view.
- Australian retail sales data headlines the Aussie docket tomorrow.
