Beryl Impacting 73kbd of Gulf Production

A number of Gulf of Mexico producers have shut in production ahead of hurricane Beryl’s arrival to the region.

  • Shell announced Wednesday it had begun the process of shutting in production at its Perdido platform.
  • BP and Exxon started evacuating non-essential personnel from their Mad Dog and Hoover platforms, respectively.
  • Bloomberg calculations suggest about 73,000 bpd of oil production is under threat from the shut ins and ~90m cu. feet/d of gas.
  • The projected path of Beryl is into the top of Mexico, around its border with Texas and unlikely to knock out refineries as it likely downgrades to a storm.
