Biden: I'm Not Here To Declare Victory On The Economy

US

US President Joe Biden, delivering remarks on "Bidenomics" in South Carolina, has defended the White House economic agenda by stating, "I'm not here to declare victory on the economy. I'm here to say we have a plan that's turning things around quickly."

  • Biden used his speech to outline the precepts of his domestic economic agenda which the White House claims will de-risk supply chains and return manufacturing to the US.
  • Biden: "When I ran [for president] I promised we would not follow down the trickle down economics path... Bidenomics is just another way of saying restoring the American dream. 40 years of trickle down limited the dream to those at the top."
  • Biden said, "today... everybody know why supply chains matter... for too long China has dominated the production of raw materials needed for critical products... Our goal is to bring full battery supply chain home. We create a 'battery belt' stretching from Michigan to Georgia."
  • Biden highlights a USD$1.5 billion investment in Chester County to process lithium for EV batteries and a USD$3.5b battery plan in Charleston.
