Big-3 Crude Exports Slip Further in August

Saudi Arabia, Russia and the US ('Big-3') reduced crude/condensates exports in August m/m, pushing their combined share of global seaborne exports to a multiyear low according to Vortexa.

  • Combined crude/condensates exports from the ‘Big-3’ stood at 12.7mbd in August - down almost 700kbd m/m.
  • US exports fell the most sharply m/m - down by around 540kbd, while Saudi and Russian declines were much lower at 110kbd and 40kbd respectively.
  • Total global crude exports (excluding Iran and Venezuela) fell by only 260kbd m/m as other countries boosted exports.
  • The divergence between exports by the Big-3 and rest of the world can be observed back to Q1 of this year. (See Vortexa chart for details)
