CHINA PRESS: Box office takings at Chinese cinemas broke CNY3 million yesterday
as cinemas re-opened for the first time in six months, the Securities Daily
reported. The takings compare to the CNY248 million of single-day box office
revenue on the same day last year, the newspaper said. The box office may
recover to 20-30% of normal levels in August and September, given the social
distancing rule inside the theatres, the newspaper reported citing a report by
HuaAn Securities. The attendance rate may return to normal in October, the
report said.
