Brazil Takes Custody Of Peru’s Embassy In Caracas

  • The Brazilian government has said it will assume control of Peru’s embassy in Caracas, according to a joint statement released yesterday by the Brazilian foreign affairs ministry. This follows a similar move last week with Argentina’s embassy in Caracas. The Venezuelan government has said that it agrees to Brazil’s joint custody of the two embassies, which follows Venezuela’s decision to expel Peruvian and Argentine diplomats from the country, after criticism of the recent election outcome.
  • Meanwhile, the domestic macro calendar remains clear today, ahead of Thursday’s BCRP monetary policy meeting, when a majority of analysts expect the central bank to keep its policy rate unchanged at 5.75%. A full MNI preview of the decision will be published tomorrow.
