Brent & Gasoil Net Longs Increase but WTI Lowest Since August

OIL POSITIONING

Managed money net long positions in Brent increased but positions in WTI crude decreased according to the commitment of traders data released on Friday.

  • The combined net long positions on Brent and WTI decreased by -12k to 334k. Net longs for Brent were the highest since 15 Nov but WTI was the lowest since mid August.
  • Gasoil net long positions were the highest in 10 weeks
    • Nymex WTI net longs fell by -30k to 165k.
    • ICE Brent net longs increased by +18k to 161k.
    • ICE Gasoil increased by +4k to 61k.
    • Nymex diesel fell by -2k to 18k.
    • Nymex gasoline increased by +1k to 52k.
