Brexit Talks Continue, Familiar Sources Of Contention Remain In Play

Anyone that was hoping for a smooth resolution to the Brexit negotiation process has been left disappointed. The three well-defined sources of contention remain evident, with mixed reports re: progress on fishing rights at present. In the main, EU source reports have pointed to positive developments on that particular front, while source reports from the UK side re: the same topic remain a little more downbeat.

  • The weekend saw EU Commission President Von der Leyen tweet: "I had a phone call with @BorisJohnson on the EU-UK negotiations. Differences remain. No agreement feasible if these are not resolved. Chief negotiators will reconvene tomorrow. We will speak again on Monday."
