Brunsbüttel Supporting German LNG Sendout

LNG

German LNG imports and sendout were the highest they have ever been in June according to ICIS collated TSO data.

  • Improved infrastructure at Brunsbüttel was a large factor, which allows the terminal to import and send more gas into the grid than previously.
  • The terminal at the port of Mukran on the island of Rügen remains in trial operations and the Stade terminal has yet to be commissioned.
  • With high storage levels in Germany, there is not a rush to get these terminal up and running.
  • The real test of Germany's LNG terminals will likely come in Q1 25 according to ICIS. Domestic gas demand for heating will be at its highest and export demand is set to increase on the removal of a €2.50/MWh cross-border levy and a halt in Russian gas flows through Ukraine.
