Brussels Switch to “Turbo Mode” Against Hungary

  • Speaking on Hungarian economic performance, Nagy is reported to have said that full economic potential of the country cannot be realized without an end to the war in Ukraine. He said Hungary would grow 2-3% this year, but could grow at double the pace next year.
  • Orban sees accumulated capital in Hungary seeking overseas investment opportunities, according to comments made to attendees at a business forum on Friday. His comments were followed over the weekend by the leader of his parliamentary party stating that Brussels have switched to ‘Turbo Mode’ against Hungary, and a debate is to be held on the topic at next week’s plenary session in the European Parliament.
  • NBH’s Kandracs is set to speak later today, however will be addressing fraud supervision and is not expected to comment on monetary policy.
