Budget Comm: Disappointed Member States Couldn't Advance On MFF

European Commissioner for Budget and Administration Johannes Hahn tweets "COREPER: Disappointed that EU MS [member states] could not advance on MFF [multiannual financial framework] & NGEU [Next Generation EU] agreement. I urge MS to assume political responsibility + take the necessary steps to finalise the entire package. This is not about ideologies but about help for our citizens in the worst crisis since WWll!"

  • Comes after two member states (believed to be Hungary and Poland) vetoed the progression of the long-term EU budget in the COREPER II meeting of MS ambassadors to the EU earlier today.
