Bulgaria Applies to Double Alexandroupoli LNG Capacity to 1bcm

Bulgaria’s state-owned natural gas distributor Bulgargaz is applying to book additional capacity for 10 years at the new Greek LNG terminal according to a government statement.

  • Bulgaria interim energy minister has previously said that they had reached an agreement in principle to double its reserved capacity at a new Alexandroupoli LNG in Greece
  • The additional gas is the equivalent of 0.5bcm of de-liquefied gas and equals the existing booked capacity at the facility.
  • The LNG terminal at Alexandroupolis, Greece, is still under construction and is expected to be operational at the end of 2023. The terminal will be able to process 5.5bcm of LNG annually and store 153.5k cubic meters.
