Malaysia's Cabinet To Revisit Revocation Of Emergency Ordinances Tomorrow

Bloomberg runs comments from PM Muhyiddin, who notes that the motion to revoke ordinances enacted during the state of emergency will be discussed at cabinet meeting tomorrow. Muhyiddin adds that emergency laws will be debated in parliament in September.

  • The sudden cancellation of the emergency laws last week without parliamentary approval and royal assent triggered a political crisis, which saw the King publicly criticise the government.
  • Federal Territories Minister Annuar hinted last night that the government has a solution to the conflict over the revocation of emergency ordinances.
