session, though capped below $1.3540 on recovery. 

* Cable marked an opening low of $1.3490 into Asia before rate recovered through

the day to $1.3531.

* Rate had drifted off to $1.3510 ahead of the European open in fairly subdued

trade. 

* All focus on the US FOMC announcement(1800GMT, press conference 1830GMT).

* Domestic attention on UK Retail Sales at 0830GMT(market median ex-fuel 0.2%mm,

1.1%yy; incl fuel 0.2%mm, 1.4%yy)

* Cable resistance $1.3531-37 ahead of $1.3550. Support $1.3490 ahead of

stronger $1.3470/65. 

* Eur/Gbp retains an underlying buoyant tone though held below Gbp0.8900.
