Chancellor: Furlough Until End-Sep, More Self-Employed Grants

Outlining continued COVID-19 support:

  • Furlough extended to end-September. 80% of salary until end of scheme. In July firms expected to give 10%, followed by 20% in August and September.
  • 4th self-employed grant Feb-April, equating to 80% avg trading profits, 5th grant from May. Firms with turnover down 30% or more will get full 80% trading profits grant, those under will get 30% grant.
  • Universal credit uplift for GBP20 sustained for another 6 months, and those on working tax credits get a GBP500 lump sum.
  • National living (minimum) wage up to GBP8.91/hour from April.
