OIL PRODUCTS

Prices of gasoil and gasoline in China have gathered momentum in Q3 and are expected to continue an upward trajectory throughout the quarter as the traditional peak demand season starts in September, according to OilChem.

  • Prices for road fuels, particularly gasoil, have strengthened in Q3, driven by higher crude prices, improved export profits, and a touted third batch of export quotas.
  • Prices at domestic state-owned refineries averaged Yuan 8,877/t for gasoline and Yuan 7,569/t for gasoil in July, an increase of 1.62% and 2.34% respectively on the month.
  • The indicative wholesale prices for August recently released by Sinopec also show growing bullish sentiment among Chinese refiners, with prices of gasoline and gasoil rising 3.66% and 7.55% respectively over July.
  • OilChem previously estimated that China will export 1.16mn tons of gasoline in August, up 28% in July.
