CHINA: China is devising new policies recognizing rare earths as a strategic
resource, Meng Wei, the spokeswoman of the National Development and Reform
Commission told reporters.
- China won't allow other nations to use its exported rare earths to contain its
development, but will meet legitimate demand. China will establish a full
traceability and review mechanism for rare earths' exports.
- Local authorities need not to enact new car purchase restrictions. Those with
restrictions in place should begin to encourage more vehicle consumption. China
will focus on recycling old cars, home appliance and electronic products.
- The surging fruit prices experienced in May may ease when seasonal fruit
supply increases. The prices of pigs and pork are stable at around the average
since 2015.
