CHINA PRESS: China rolling with the tariff punches. South China Morning Post
(SCMP) reported Sunday afternoon that "Beijing 'won't target' US firms in China"
in retaliation of US Pres Trump's trade threats. Aside, Sunday headlines helped
spur risk-off bid in rates: WSJ "Trump Plans New Curbs on Chinese Investment,
Tech Exports to China" followed by Financial Times article saying "Trump
administration has decided to restrict Chinese investment in US companies and
start-ups in sectors from aerospace to robotics." SCMP story, however, outlines
"Chinese authorities are keen to reassure foreign businesses in China and
retaliation against them has 'never been on the cards'" citing govt sources,
adding that China is concerned "that foreign investors are opting to leave the
country."
