China Should Communicate with Biden Team: Times

China should begin to communicate with U.S. President-elect Joe Biden "as thoroughly" as possible and make greater joint efforts to recover relations to a more predictable state, according to the Global Times, a tabloid owned by the People's Daily. It may be possible to shift to pragmatic cooperation in fighting the epidemic and re-evaluate other inherent problems in bilateral relations, the newspaper said. However, China should not have illusions that Biden's election will ease or bring a reversal to the declining state of China-U.S. relations, as many believe that the intense conflicts launched by the Trump administration have changed the thinking of the U.S. elite towards China.
