China’s Guangzhou LNG Terminal Receives First Cargo

China’s Guangzhou gas received its first cargo at the newly built Nansha Guangzhou LNG terminal, according to LNG industry and TankerTerminals.

  • The 63k mt or 142,889 cu m LNG carrier Maran Gas Coronis arrived at the terminal Aug. 8, discharging a 117,864 cu m cargo.
  • The terminal, with a capacity of 1.1m mtpa, is located on the southern coast of China and is the third new LNG terminal to be put into commission in China this year. It is the 27th LNG terminal in the country.
  • When fully operational, the terminal will be able to supply 1.54 Bcm/year of natural gas to Guangzhou.
  • In March 2022, the parent company of Guangzhou Gas — Guangzhou Development Group, signed a 10-year contract with Sinochem to buy 400k mtpa of LNG delivery from 2023 to 2032, according to S&P Global.
