China’s Jet Fuel Production Surges 24% on Year in H1: OilChem

  • China’s jet fuel production showed an annual growth of 23.9% in H1 2024, the fastest in history, OilChem said.
  • The boost in production was facilitated by the recovery in the civil aviation industry.
  • China’s civil aviation industry transported 350m passengers in H1, a year-on-year increase of 23.5%.
  • Daily utilisation of civil aviation aircraft was 8.7 hours, an increase of 0.9 hours compared to the same period in 2023.
  • China’s jet fuel consumption reached 19.82m mt in H1, up 15.64% on the year. The civil and military engineering sectors were 88% of total consumption.
  • Consumption growth outpaced production due to an active export market.
  • China’s civil aviation industry is expected to continue its growth in 2024-25, based on China’s current five-year plan.
