NATGAS

The Sichuan-East Gas Pipeline Phase II, a major Chinese energy infrastructure project, is set to be completed by 2027, Platts said.

  • The pipeline spans 4,269 km across eight provinces and cities, with the eastern section covering 2,698 km.
  • It includes one main line, two connecting lines, and three branch lines, designed to transport 14 bcm/y of natural gas.
  • The western section began construction in September 2023, with significant progress made.
  • Integrated with existing networks, the pipeline will enhance connectivity between gas production areas in southwest China and coastal LNG terminals.
  • Upon completion, it will increase the system's capacity to 26 bcm/y, Platts added.
  • This expansion supports China's 14th Five-Year Plan, ensuring stable gas supply and aiding regional energy flexibility and decarbonization goals. PipeChina also plans to build over 2k km of pipelines in 2025.
