STOCKS: Chinese & HK equities played catch up after the long holiday weekend,
aided by the Wall. St. rally, weekend developments surrounding U.S.-Mexico trade
relations and last week's announcement that Chinese policymakers plan to support
demand in the automobiles and electronics sectors. Friday's comments from PBoC
Governor Yi re: tremendous room for further easing also provided support.
- Australian equities were closed for a market holiday.
- U.S. equity index futures faded from best levels after benefitting from the
weekend news flow re: U.S.-Mexican relations.
- Nikkei 225 +1.0%, Hang Seng +2.0%, CSI 300 +1.4%.
- S&P 500 futures +7, DJIA futures +53, NASDAQ 100 futures +19.
