Chinese Refinery Runs Rise to 14.83mn bpd in June: NBS

Total refinery throughput in China was 60.95 million metric tons in June, equivalent to 14.83 million bpd according to the National Bureau of Statistics.

  • June’s figures represent a marginal increase on the 14.6 million bpd rate seen in the prior month.
  • For the first half of 2023, Chinese refiners processed a total of 363.6 million metric tons of crude oil, or 14.66 million bpd, up 9.9% year-on-year.
  • China-based consultancy JLC estimated planned oil throughput from the country’s four major state-owned refiners would reach 42.54 million metric tons in July, up 5.2% from June.
  • Refinery runs are expected to rise further in July, supported by the resumption of activity in Shandong.
