YEN: Comments from BoJ Governor Kuroda have put a bid into the JPY crosses. BBG
covered the comments, as Kuroda appeared in the Diet.
- Kuroda noted that the Bank "will consider extra easing to its hit price target
if needed." Kuroda went on to note that this could take the form of further
asset purchases, with "many options" available re: MonPol. Kuroda also stressed
that the BoJ would have to consider the benefits and costs of any such policy
moves if they were required.
- USD/JPY added around 20 pips on the back of the release, hitting a session
high of Y110.70 in the process. Bulls look for consolidation above the 100-HMA
at Y110.64 to allow them to target the 100-WMA at Y110.79.
- EUR/JPY trades away from lows, last 10 pips lower on the day at Y125.00, with
bulls looking to the down trendline from Dec 13 & yesterday's high as immediate
resistance levels.
