Constitutional Court To Discuss Pita's Case On Wednesday

THAILAND

The Standard reports that the Constitutional Court has scheduled a meeting for 9:30am local time on Wednesday to discuss whether to accept Move Forward Party (MFP) leader Pita Limjaroenrat's shareholding case.

  • The Election Commission (EC) decided to forward the case to the Constitutional Court after conducting a fact-finding investigation and asked the court to suspend Pita as an MP over allegations that he knowingly applied for office despite being ineligible.
  • If the Standard's report is confirmed, it will mean that the Constitutional Court's meeting will take place on the day of the second round of the PM vote, in which Pita is expected to run after his candidacy was rejected in the first round.
