FOREX
FOREX: Currencies were listless during the Asia Pacific session, leaving the
dollar mostly unchanged against its peers. Dollar-yen rose from Y113.81 to
Y114.07 and mainly traded around the Y114.00 handle. Nikkei was supportive of a
much higher move, the cash index opened higher by 0.3% and surged 2.0% during
the session, making a new 25 year high in the process. Aussie edged higher from
$0.7663 to $0.7690, aside from equities, commodity futures were supportive,
Shanghai steel +1.8%, coking coal +2.5% and Dalian ore +1.0%. Kiwi-dollar held
on to gains made in late US markets following a more hawkish-than-expected RBNZ
Policy statement, the bird holding a $0.6945-$0.6973 range. Meanwhile,
Euro-dollar currently trades at $1.1596 and Cable at $1.3120, after trading in
respective ranges of $1.1586 to $1.1600 and $1.3106 to $1.3132.
