CZECHIA: CNB Board Member Says 50bp Rate Cut Unlikely in August

CNB Board member Jan Procházka has commented on inflation and monetary policy to Novinky newspaper. Highlights as follows:

  • “We will see what effect other numbers from the economy will have on the forecast. Maybe we'll cut rates some more and maybe take a break"
  • "I still feel the need to be relatively careful there.”
  • “I believe that a fifty point reduction is highly unlikely. Indeed, the fine-tuning phase, which means standard quarter-percentage-point increments, is already occurring.”
