CZECHIA: Consumer Confidence Below Estimates in July

  • Czech Republic's consumer confidence fell to 98.4 in July from 101.0 in June (Est: 101.8), according to the Czech Statistical Office. Business confidence fell to 94.5 (Prior: 97.4) while economic sentiment fell to 95.1 (Prior: 98.0).
  • Liberty Ostrava, one of the largest steelworks in the Czech Republic, said Tuesday that it is preparing to lay off workers, but did not specify how many employees would be affected. Local media reported that the redundancies could affect up to 2,600 people, citing information the trade unionists received from the management.
  • A cabinet meeting starts at 09:00BST/10:00CET today, with a press briefing scheduled for 12:00BST/13:00CET.
