CZECHIA: Finance Ministry Holds Bond Auction, Parliament Debates Pensions

CZECHIA
  • Seznam Zpravy reported that now ex-Regional Development Minister Ivan Bartos could be succeeded by his deputy Radim Srsen, but STAN leader Vit Rakusan is also considering the candidacies of ex-regional governors Petr Kulhanek and Josef Suchanek. It seems that STAN will most likely get to fill the post following the Pirate Party's departure from the government, while the Foreign Affairs portfolio may be handed to TOP 09 (who may, however, simply "adopt" incumbent Jan Lipavsky).
  • Lawmakers approved a CZK30bn increase in this year's fiscal gap to CZK282bn with 166 out of 170 present MPs voting in favour amid the need to mitigate the effects of recent floods.
  • The Chamber of Deputies will today discuss an overhaul of the pension system, with the debate on the government's contentious plans expected to drag on until Friday.
  • Czechia holds an auction for CZK4bn of 3.0% 2033 bonds and CZK2bn of 4.0% 2044 bonds today.
