US factory orders rose 1.8% in December, the largest m/m percent change 
since April 2018 when factory orders increased 2.2%. November factory 
orders were revised lower to -1.2% (prev -0.7%). Factory orders 
excluding transportation posted a 0.6% increase which was the largest 
since April 2018, but orders excluding defense fell 0.6%, the largest 
decline since September. Durable goods new orders were unrevised at 
2.4%, but still posted the strongest increase since April 2018 when 
durables rose by 4.2%, and defense capital goods new orders rose 89.8%, 
the largest increase since March 2017.
