Democrat Rep Gallego Has Edge In Crucial Arizona Senate Race

US

According to Punchbowl News, a new poll from the National Republican Senatorial Committee, Democrat Rep Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) is “cruising” in a three-way Arizona Senate race.

  • According to the poll, Gallego leads with 41%, ahead of Republican Kari Lake 37%, and independent, former Democrat incumbent, Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ) 17%.
  • NBC reports: "The poll's overall finding matches Sinema’s private pitches to donors that she’s stronger with Republicans than with Democrats in the Arizona electorate."
  • According to NBC, National Republican Senatorial Committee Chair Steve Daines predicted that dynamic would change after outside groups highlight Sinema’s support for the Biden administration.
  • Gallego campaign spokesperson Hannah Goss said: “Even Senate Republicans’ own poll agrees: Ruben Gallego is best positioned to win this race..."
  • The poll will provide a major boost for Democrat who fear that Sinema’s re-election bid would split the Democrat vote. Punchbowl notes that the, “poll shows Sinema is splitting the R vote, not D vote.”
  • The Arizona Senate race is considered one of the crucial races to determine overall control of the Senate next year.
