Draghi Promises Econ Support As Tougher COVID Restrictions Approach

Prime Minister Mario Draghi, who has just finished speaking at a vaccination centre, has stated that EUR38bn of economic stimulus will be presented to parliament next week to support individuals and businesses as stricter lockdown measures are set to come in due to rising COVID-19 cases.

  • Draghi stated the economic support would require a greater budget deficit than currently planned and would include an extension of furlough payments.
