Draghi, VdL-No Evidence Of Link Btwn Blood Clots, AZ Jab

Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi's office releases a comment that the PM and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen agreed on a call today that there is 'no evidence' of a link between the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and blood clots.

  • A number of European countries' medical agencies have issued temporary suspensions on the use of the AZ vaccine following the allegations.
  • The EMA has dismissed speculation saying that there is no evidence those who have taken the AZ jab have no higher risk of blood clots than the general population.
  • The incident only adds to the existing confusion in the EU as to its vaccine strategy, which has been marred by bureaucratic hold-ups and overt vaccine skepticism from some leaders from the start of the rollout.
