EGB/Gilt - European Govies plummet on ECB

  • Another big session in term of ranges, but once again below averages volumes.
  • Bund has again traded in a 241 ticks range, while BTP a whooping 418 ticks range.
  • US CPI, was inline, but the big mover was the more Hawkish statement from the ECB, which is looking at tapering earlier.
  • Bund and peripherals plummeted.
  • Peripherals are as such more impacted, translating into wider spreads.
  • Italy by 15.2bps and Greece 10.6bps/
  • Gilts have held onto gains, albeit down 21 ticks at the time of typing.
  • And the gilt/Bund spread is 4.5bps tighter.
  • Gilts are down 22 at 122.10
  • Bund futures are down -0.97 today at 162.61 with 10y Bund yields up 5.9bp at 0.272% and Schatz yields up 10.9bp at -0.396%.
  • BTP futures are down -2.83 today at 140.08 with 10y yields up 21.8bp at 1.895% and 2y yields up 18.0bp at 0.169%.
  • OAT futures are down -1.37 today at 154.74 with 10y yields up 8.7bp at 0.745% and 2y yields up 11.0bp at -0.326%.
