EGBS

Bund futures are off intraday highs, but continue to outperform OAT and BTP counterparts.

  • Monday’s high of 133.07 was not quite tested earlier, leaving Bunds +64 ticks at 132.88 at typing.
  • OAT futures remain stronger on the day (+15 ticks at 124.24) following the weak flash PMI round, but have fallen some 40 ticks from intraday highs.
  • France’s left-wing New Popular Front has set out its spending plans for the economy ahead of the first round of legislative election voting on June 30.
  • The reaction in OATs has been negative and sees the 10-year OAT/Bund spread trade ~4bps wider around the 80bps handle, just below Monday’s widest levels.
  • 10-year peripheral spreads to Bunds are also wider, with European equity futures some 0.7% lower today.
