EGBS/JGBS: Morgan Stanley..........>
US TSYS/RESEARCH
US TSYS/RESEARCH: EGBS/JGBS: Morgan Stanley analysts led by Matthew Hornbach and
Guneet Dhingra said that "central bankers" will "set the tone" this week as
"investors return from summer holidays to face a flurry of central bankers over
the next 3 weeks." (Monday is a US bond market holiday.)
- They add the "ECB and BoE lead off, and the Fed and BoJ clean up. Bond markets
are set up for cautiously hawkish rhetoric. Whether the emphasis lies on
'cautious' or 'hawkish' will set the tone into year-end."
- They suggest on US duration and curves that "we continue to suggest investors
position long UST 5y notes on the 2s/5s/30s 50:50 butterfly. In the euro area,
we no longer suggest Jun-18 Eonia longs, and instead suggest short 1y1y Eonia to
position for the repricing of a higher probability of removal of negative depo
rates in the next two years."
