Egypt Considering Adding a New FSRU

Egypt is considering adding a new FSRU at its LNG import facilities at Ain Sukhna to increase capacity according to the petroleum ministry.

  • The ministry is also considering adjusting liquidation units at Idku and Damietta to import gas instead.
  • Egypt has become a net importer this year and has chartered an FSRU and bought 20 LNG cargoes to meet up the shortfall and try to avoid blackouts during peak summer demand.
