Egypt Issues Tender for 17 Summer LNG Cargoes

LNG

Egypt’s EGAS has issued a tender to buy at least 17 cargoes of LNG to cover rising demand for power during the summer, according to Bloomberg sources.

  • The tender for July to September delivery closes on June 25 with prices fixed or linked to European TTF prices.
  • Delivery is via Jordan or Egypt, after the arrival of the Hoegh Galleon FSRU to be used as an LNG import facility at Ain Sukhna.
  • The switch in Egypt from an exporter to an importer places greater pressure on available supplies for Europe. Egypt looks set to pull in the highest volumes of LNG since 2018.
