ELECTRICITY: UK Awards 9.6GW of Renewables in AR6 at between £50.07-172/MWh

The UK has awarded 9.6GW of capacity in its AR6 auction, the majority being 3.28GW of solar and 3.36GW of offshore wind at 2012 inflation-indexed strike prices of £50.07/MWh and £58.87/MWh, respectively, according to the government.

  • 990MW of onshore wind (>5MW) was awarded at an avg of £50.90/MWh, with 400MW of floating offshore getting a strike price of £139.93/MWh.
  • Orsted got CfD for a 1.08GW share of the Hornsea 3 Offshore Wind Farm, as well as a 2.4GW CfD for Hornsea 4 at a 2012 inflation-indexed price of £54.23/MWh for Hornsea 3 and £58.87/MWh for Hornsea 4, according to Bloomberg.
  • And ScottishPower, a subsidiary of Iberdrola was awarded a CfD for its 963MW East Anglia Phase 1 offshore wind farm at a £58.87/MWh.
  • The majority of the projects are located in England and Scotland.
